Setting Up Your Cuboid
It is easier than assembling IKEA furniture. Promise. Follow these steps and you will be done before your tea gets cold.
Step 1: Unboxing
Everything you need to get started:
- Main base tray with built-in drainage
- Premium synthetic grass pad (40mm, feels like the real thing)
- Fluids holding bag — or collection tray if you got the Basic
- Screws and assembly tools (you will not need your own)
- Sprinkler system and water hose (Pro version only)
- Quick start guide (keep it handy)
- Training spray sample — this stuff works wonders
Step 2: Assembly
Basic Model: Slide the collection tray into the slot underneath the base. It should click into place.
Pro Model: Connect the fluids bag to the drainage outlet at the bottom. Push it on firmly — you should feel it seat. No leaks, no stress.
Step 3: Where to Put It
- Balcony or terrace — this is the most popular spot
- Bathroom corner — easy to rinse nearby
- Laundry area — usually has a drain and tile floor
- Near an entrance — convenient for quick access
- Any area with easy-to-clean flooring (tile is ideal)
- Pick one spot and stick to it — dogs get confused if you keep moving it
- Make sure your dog can reach it easily, even when you are not home
- Keep it away from food and water bowls — dogs do not like eating near their bathroom
- Choose somewhere with airflow so it dries quickly
- Dogs prefer a bit of privacy, just like us
Step 4: Teaching Your Dog to Use It
- Let your dog sniff and walk on the Cuboid freely — no pressure
- Put a few treats on and around the grass to build positive associations
- Spray the included training scent on the grass — this signals "bathroom zone" to dogs
- Praise them for any interaction, even just stepping on it
- Take your dog to the Cuboid after meals, naps, and playtime
- Watch for signs they need to go — sniffing, circling, or heading to the door
- When they use it, celebrate like they just won a gold medal
- Accidents happen — never punish. Just clean up and try again
- Keep praising successful uses, but you can ease up on treats
- Stick to a routine — dogs thrive on consistency
- Most dogs get it fully within 1-2 weeks. Some take 3. All are fine.
Dog avoids the Cuboid:
- Place a piece of their used pee pad on the grass — the smell helps
- Try a more private or quieter location
- Use more training spray and patience
Dog misses the target:
- Make sure the Cuboid is big enough — larger dogs need the full size
- Some dogs need a ramp or lower edge at first
- Accuracy improves with time. Be patient.
Step 5: Keeping It Clean
- Pick up solid waste right away — do not let it sit
- Rinse the grass pad with water from a cup or hose
- Empty and rinse the collection tray daily
- Let the grass pad air dry before the next use
- Remove solid waste
- Press the clean button — the sprinklers run for about 2 minutes
- Water drains into the bag automatically
- Replace the fluids bag when it is about two-thirds full
- Remove the grass pad and wash it with mild soap and water
- Scrub the base tray with a brush
- Use a pet-safe disinfectant if needed
- Let everything dry completely before putting it back
- Check the grass pad for wear — flattening means it is time to think about a replacement
With normal use and regular cleaning, your grass pad should last 6-12 months. Replace it when:
- The grass looks flattened or worn down
- Odors stick around even after cleaning
- Drainage slows down or water pools on top
Replacement grass pads are always available in our shop.
